Natural Product Libraries
Through our partnership with PhytoMyco, ZenBio has a collection of over 60,000 plant and microbial extracts from over 14,000 plants and microbial species. These unique collections are readily available for a very reasonable price on a non-exclusive basis and are subdivided into four diverse sets:
PURE COMPOUND LIBRARIES:
PhytoMyco has about 750 pure compounds isolated from plants and microbes based on assay-guided fractionations.
About 30% of the compounds have structural information.
HIGHLY ENRICHED PHYTOCHEMICALS:
The 40,000 highly enriched phytochemicals have been generated from plant extracts by polyamide gel chromatography and solid phase extractions. Each fraction contains 1-4 compounds, highly enriched. These fractions contain low molecular weight compounds (ranging from 200-600 molecular weight).
PLANT LIBRARIES:
Plant extracts are available in bulk (>5 g quantity), in vials (10 mg), in 96-well plates (1 mg/well) as well as highly-enriched phytochemical fractions.
- PhytoMyco offers a unique collection of plants with an extensive ethno-botanical database
- Plants are harvested fresh, extracted and purified by passing through polyamide gel to remove assay interfering materials.
- We have experience in cultivating these plants in both greenhouse and field conditions
- Most of the plants are from the Southeastern United States and Mexico, and a unique collections from India
- The genetic materials are available to grow the plants on a large scale to circumvent any potential supply issues
MICROBIAL LIBRARIES:
The microbial library consists of extracts of endophytes (fungi), actinomycetes, bacteria and yeasts. We have over 10,000 extracts obtained from fungal endophytes isolated from medicinal plants. We have used the following previously unexplored microbial sources for the production of novel microbial metabolites:
- Endophytes from medicinally important plants (~3000 cultures)
- Actinomycetes from unique environments such as estuaries, and sledges (~1600 cultures)
- Extracts from approximately 500 yeast and bacteria
